Mario Brito, president of the Inter-European Division of Seventh-Day Adventists expressed on behalf of the Administrative Committee his appreciation of Denise Hochstrasser’s work, saying they would  always miss her, her questions, suggestions and utter and relentless defense of the women’s cause as well as her focus on mission – how women could be useful instruments in God’s hands to share the Gospel message at home, in the church and the society. Her loving and skillful manner of motivating and rallying women, as a well-organized and hard-working team that has accomplished so much for the women everywhere in the EUD territories and beyond would be remembered.

Women's Ministries Congress in Bellinzona, Switzerland
Women in Mission for Christ

On the Sabbath around 200 women crowded the venue to hear what God has to say to women in mission for Christ. Women came from all around Switzerland and Italy. The guest speaker Raquel Arrais, associate director of Women’s Ministries at the General Conference, challenged the participants to respond positively to the Lord’s question “Whom shall I send?”

National Women's Forum in Asenovgrad, Bulgaria
"Crossroads of Hope" was the motto. Keynote speaker of the forum was Women's Ministries Associate Director at the General Conference Raquel Arrais, who was accompanied by the Director of Women's Ministries at the Inter-European Division Denise Hochstrasser. 140 Men and Women participated.

The South German Union organized a leadership training session, Level 2. The topics were presented by Heidi Albisser, Denise Hochstrasser, Larisa Leahu, Hannele Ottschofski, Angelika Pfaller and Gerd-Laila Walter. 24 Participants

German Women's Ministries Advisoryin Springe
As both German Unions share the department director Angelika Pfaller, co-operation of the unions is a good basis for common efforts. Many decisions, wonderful cooperation, great friendship was experienced during this Women's Ministries advisory 2017. Denise Hochstrasser, Women’s Ministries director of the EUD was also present to facilitate the meeting.

Women's Ministries LevelPlus Training in Austria
A small but very enthusiastic group of women gathered in Mondsee, Austria, for a supplementary training weekend called LevelPlus. They learned about the Friend to Friend process (how to help your friend through a problem); how to speak about your faith in Jesus (witnessing); how to develop your Mission statement; and what made women in leadership in Bible times special.

3rd National Bulgarian Women’s Forum in  Borovets near Bulgaria’s capital Sofia. The Conference slogan was “Today’s decision - eternal destiny”. Over 100  women from Bulgaria and Maceadonia in attendance.  Guest speaker Hannele Ottschofski.

April 21

Ralf Wieland, President of the House of Representatives of Berlin presented the Louise-Schroeder-Medal to Dr. Strunz and Mrs. Evelyn Brenda as representatives of the whole interdisciplinary team of the Desert Flower Center at Waldfriede Hospital, Berlin. The medal is awarded to acknowledge  special merit in favour of democracy, peace, social justice and equality of women and men.

Spain: Maria Angel Gutierrez, Women's Ministries Director, invited to an organization of the Spanisch Ministry of Justice, called "Foundation Pluralismo y Convivencia", for a subvention to support the expenses of  the Leadership programs. She was granted a total of €8,400. In the history of the Spanish Union, it was the first time that financial aid from the Government was granted for SDA church ministries programs apart from ADRA projects.
